Gianluca Scamacca insists Atalanta are still ‘alive’ after an away 1-1 draw at Marseille in the Europa League semifinal first leg.

The Italy international scored an early goal for La Dea at the Stade Veledrome on Thursday, but it was not enough to beat Marseille who equalised a few minutes later.

“It’s a good result because it keeps us alive for the second leg. It was a tough game, not just because of the environment, they have a good team,” Scamacca told Sky Sport.

The ex-Sassuolo and West Ham striker has now scored nine goals in the last 11 games across all competitions.

“I always try to help the team with goals, performances and assists. My teammates put me in the best condition to score,” he said.

The second leg will be played in Bergamo next week.

“It’s a semifinal so nobody will underestimate this match. We will start again from 0-0, so it’s all open,” said the striker.

“Of course, we think about it [going to the Final], but there is a game remaining, and we must focus on that.”
