Minor League Report: Nathan Lukes went 6-6 with a home run, Alan Roden hit his third home run, and more!

On Tuesday, every Blue Jays affiliate in action lost. It was the total opposite on Wednesday as all four teams won their games.

Two wins were blowouts, a team moved to .500, and a team shutout their opposition. Let’s dig into the latest Minor League Report!

Buffalo scored 14 runs

The Buffalo Bisons absolutely demolished the Rochester Red Wings by a score of 14-3, moving the record to 24-17, third in the International League East.

Without question, Nathan Lukes had the best game of any Bisons, as he went 6-6, hitting a home run and two doubles. Other players with a double were Damiano Palmegiani and Payton Henry. As for multi-hit games, Rafael Lantigua had three singles, while Steward Berroa had two singles as well. Leo Jimenez had a single too, while Spencer Horwitz walked three times.

Starter Chad Dallas picked up the win, finishing with a line of 5.1 IP, 5 H, 2 ER (3 R), 2 BB, 5 K with two home runs given up. Joel Kuhnel walked three batters and gave up a hit in an inning and two thirds, but didn’t allow an earned run. Brendon Little also walked two and allowed a hit in his inning and two thirds, while Connor Cooke walked a batter and got the final out.

New Hampshire blew out Hartford

Like the Buffalo Bisons, the New Hampshire Fisher Cats blew out the Hartford Yard Goats (Colorado) 12-3, moving their record to 14-20. They are currently last in the Eastern League Northeast division.

Alan Roden hit his third home run of the season, immediately followed by Riley Tirotta’s second home run of the season. Devonte Brown hit his fifth double of the season, the only other extra-base hit.

Still, the Fisher Cats finished the day with 13 hits, with Phil Clarke hitting three singles, while Josh Kasevich, Alex De Jesus, and Roden all had two hits. Other players with a hit were Gabriel Martinez and Garrett Spain.

Adam Macko had another good start, surprise, surprise. The 23-year-old lefty finished with a line of 5 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 9 K to bring his season ERA to 4.36. Eric Pardinho finally allowed a runner on base, walking two batters in his inning. Hunter Gregory continued his good season, pitching two innings giving up an unearned run in two innings pitched. Jimmy Brunette allowed a hit, but had a scoreless outing.

Vancouver won 6-2

The story of the season for the Vancouver Canadians is that they’re hovering .500. With a 6-2 win over Spokane, bringing their record to 15-15.

Jace Bohrofen hit his first home run of the season. On top of that, Jommer Hernandez, Dylan Rock, and Nick Goodwin all hit doubles, with the latter having a three-hit performance. Two other players had multi-hit games, Jeffrey Wehler and Glenn Santiago both had two singles, while Dasan Brown, Ryan McCarty, and Jommer Hernandez all had one hit. Jackson Hornung was the only starter without a hit, but he walked three times.

Geison Urabez started the game and had a solid start, finishing with a line of 4.2 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 3 BB, 2 K to bring his season ERA to 2.08. Grayson Thurman was the first out of the bullpen, striking out two in his inning and a third of work. Rafael Ohashi still hasn’t given up a run, striking out the side and allowing a walk in an inning pitched.

Carson Pierce made his second appearance as a Canadian, striking out three batters in his inning of work, while Justin Kelly pitched a clean inning.

Dunedin shutout Jupiter

The Dunedin Blue Jays shutout the Jupiter Hammerheads 5-0, bringing their season record to 15-20, fourth in the Florida State League west.

Dunedin’s star of this game was Yhoangel Aponte, who hit his third home run of the season and went 4-4 with three additional singles. Cristian Feliz hit the other extra-base hit, while Tucker Toman and Daniel Pérez both had two singles. Jean Joseph, Victor Arias, and Edward Duran all had singles as well. The two batters without a hit, Bryce Arnold and Marcos De La Rosa both walked, with the latter doing so twice.

Juaron Watts-Brown had a terrific start, finishing with a line of 4 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 9 K, his best professional start to date. Yondrei Rojas struck out three in two innings, while Irv Carter pitched a clean inning. Eliander Alcalde struck out two and walked three in his two innings of work.

All in all, it was a good day in the Jays’ organization.
